The classrooms being built will not only help the students of Mthawira Primary School but also the wider community in the local villages.
The classrooms project aims to improve learning conditions leading to improved pupil retention, results and enrolment.
Moreover, the community has a large involvement in building the classrooms. Through the local contribution of labour and materials, there will be strong community engagement and ownership of the classrooms.
Highlighting the participation of the local community, the construction will be jointly led by Umodzi Youth Organization (UYO) and local building contractor JUTIV Construction.
Materials such as sand, stones and labour will be contributed by community members with traditional building methods used for the schools, a fusing of tradition and the longevity of modern materials.
UYO will conduct regular meetings involving the local community and institutions.
